Otoyomegatari is taking a break in the March issue of Haruta magazine (Fellows! changed its name and rebooted in Feburary), but there IS a Shirley oneshot instead.

I don’t plan on doing it yet since I haven’t read any other Mori Maid Manga, maybe I’ll pick it up after I get through original Shirley.

I really, really appreciate your work on Otoyomegatari. Trust me, it is one of the greatest series I've ever read and I am glad people work on it. However, I have a request for you: to actually use the previous scan groups' names spelling since they are the real Arabic spelling. For example, in the earlier translations, Amir was 'Amira' which is actually the right romaji for her name since 'Amir' means 'prince' and 'Amira' means 'princess'. Thank you for putting this into consideration.

I took my cues on the names from the official Yen Press translations where I could, because I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt that they’ve communicated with the author and are rendering it as intended. The Japanese spelling of her name, a-mi-ru, is also much closer to Amir than Amira.

The Arabic meaning is a perfectly good reason to read it as Amira, and when I started I did consider it strongly, but I’m sticking with Amir at this point for a: consistency and b: assuming it’s the author’s intent.

Hoshi no Samidare (Biscuit Hammer officially) is really really good and everyone ought to read it. You can support Mizukami by purchasing the digital English version on Jmanga.

I learned Japanese taking classes through high school and college, including one year on exchange.

I think the scans of Spirit Circle 07 are a bit... Green, literally. Plus, the fonts have no anti aliasing (gimp's fault I bet?)

I was thinking more of a blue, but that could just be my screen! I’ll tell you this, though: the raws are good, I’m the one who fucked em up.
The first few pages DO have ugly gimp fonts, after that I decided enough was enough and grabbed me a copy of PS. Doesn’t mean I know how to use that yet either of course, but I’m slowly learning more about what not to do. For instance, slapping a CMYK profile on the raws instead of RGB or greyscale.
I never notice these things until I’m halfway done with a chapter most times, and by then I just want to get it out. Luckily, chapter seven is the end of the first volume, which gives me a reason to clean things up for a batch release. That’s ALMOST like I know what I’m doing, so we’re getting closer to the desired result!
